The emotional impact experienced when we lose a pet is deep and significant. Pets are a transcendental part of our lives and their death, without a doubt, leaves a void that is very difficult to fill.

In this context, the “Duke Law” proposal, which aims to provide a work permit in the event of the death of pets and a justified day of absence from school, makes special sense. Having a day off to face and process this loss would be of great help, especially for people’s emotional well-being, allowing them to grieve appropriately.

When a pet dies, many emotions arise such as pain and sadness, and it is necessary to carry out the grieving process accordingly, considering the strong emotional ties you have with them. Allowing yourself to take a day off recognizes the importance of this bond and provides the space needed to process the loss.

For many people, animals become family members, loyal companions who spend most of their time with us, providing comfort and joy, sharing important moments in our lives, mainly with children. Therefore, having this benefit would allow us to have a safe space to process the situation, remember and honor our pets, along with taking time to say goodbye to them in a meaningful way.

This initiative would be an important message about the well-being and respect for animals.
