UNIR delivers its ‘Cultural Recognitions 2024’ this Tuesday

The International University of La Rioja (UNIR) delivers the ‘Cultural Recognitions 2024’ this Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) in the auditorium of its headquarters in Logroño. For the second year, with these awards it recognizes and promotes the work of people, institutions and initiatives in cultural management in La Rioja.

The jury of the ‘Cultural Recognitions’ has recognized on this occasion the work of the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation, the Ateneo Riojano, the ‘Luces, Cameros, Acción’ festival, the ‘Badarán que Hablar’ contest and the photographer Teresa Rodriguez.

In the ‘Cultural Personality’ category, recognition will go to photographer Teresa Rodríguez Miguel, “for her professional and informative activity, as well as for her work curating exhibitions in proposals such as ‘Women in Art’ or ‘Art on Earth’. ‘”, as explained by the academic institution in a press release.

The award for ‘Private cultural initiative’ will go to the Ateneo Riojano “for the work carried out since its foundation in 1922, and which has led it to be a fundamental part of the city’s culture.”

Regarding the ‘Public Institution and Foundation’ recognition, it will be awarded to the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation “for its incessant work in promoting and disseminating the study and research on the Spanish language and culture, with a special focus on the study of Spanish and its dialects. In addition to promoting the social, economic, cultural and tourist development of San Millán and its surroundings.

The short film festival ‘Lights, Cameros, Action’ will be awarded in the ‘Innovative cultural project’ category “for its commitment to promoting rural areas of the world, as well as for making the Cameros known outside the region.”

Recognition of the ‘Cultural Project in the Rural Environment’ goes to the microtheater contest ‘Badarán to speak’ “which has established itself as an original and innovative microtheater contest that promotes and energizes the environment of Badarán, and which this year celebrates its ninth edition”.

The gala will be presented by Dory Merino, professor in the area of ​​Communication and associate for Cultural Action of the Vice-rector’s Office for Teaching Staff and Cultural Action, and will begin with the piece ‘Memories of the Alhambra’, by Pablo Lizardi, guitarist of Rioja Filarmonía.

Next, the rector José María Vázquez García-Peñuela, and the mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, will dedicate a few words to the attendees and winners. The event will be closed by the president of the Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán.

The jury for the ‘Cultural Recognitions 2024’ was made up of the vice-rector for Teaching Staff and Cultural Action, María Teresa Santa María Fernández; the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Víctor Padilla; the director of the arts and humanities area, Marga del Hoyo; Professor Myriam Ferreira; the president of the Advisory Council, Pablo Arrieta; and the coordinator of cultural activities at UNIR, Diego Iturriaga.
