The revitalization of downtown Cali is a priority in the projects to be developed in the administration of Mayor Alejandro Eder. For this reason, from the sales room of the Paraíso Central housing project, located on Carrera 10 and Calle 14, the ordinary session of the CIntersectoral omission to address Public Space, Social and Environmental issues of the Ciudad Paraíso urban renewal project – CATASEP, where it was determined that permanent support will be provided in response to social and security programs that benefit the residents and merchants of the sector.

The Urban Development and Renewal Company – EDRU is the technical secretary of the commission, which aims to promote joint work between the different organizations of the Cali District, to create plans, programs and projects that respond to the needs of the renovation project. urban.

Raquel Garavito, manager of the EDRU, highlighted at the meeting that “Within the framework of the partial plans of the center, where we are installing our CATASEP today, an intersectoral district table is necessary that will not only seek to diagnose but also generate actions in favor of the community and the improvement of the central sector.”

This commission consists of four tables: environmental, security, habitat and public space, which respond to the needs of the El Calvario, San Pascual, Ciudadela de la Justicia and Sucre partial plans.

The Undersecretary of Inspection, Surveillance and Control, Javier Garcés, stated that For this Administration, the recovery of the city center is a priority; from the Ministry of Security we have carried out some control actions in the area. For the next semester we will continue recovering public space so that development can continue.”.

This commission will meet every three months to respond to the needs of the community and work together on the sustainability of the center’s partial plans (El Calvario, San Pascual and Sucre) and the social intervention programs that must be carried out in the area.

The Secretary of Social Welfare, María Isabel Barón, stated that “We are very aware of the commitment we have at this table and with the populations of the sector, we are going to have a clear process to support the inhabitants of and on the street and we will also work for the prevention of child exploitation. In this area will be all the organization’s offer,” the official stated.

With the end of the first quarter of the 2024 period, 331 homes have been built, 289 have been delivered, 8,817 are for sale and there is a total potential of 12,715 homes. “In short, it is a commitment to people’s quality of life and citizen well-being. In Cali, we will continue in the search for reconciliation with the territory through the improvement of the living conditions of citizens,” stated the EDRU Manager.
