The torrential rains that hit the Bolivarian territory over the weekend triggered tragedies in several communities, especially in the south of the department.
In the municipalities of Montecristo, Arenal del Sur and Norosí, the rains left 625 families affected.
In La Mojana, between Bolívar and Sucre, the waters of the Cauca River are breaking the jarillon, that the UNGRD and the local communities had been building, and flood several towns.

A child, Samuel de Jesús Macías Hernández, 4 years old, disappeared due to the overflowing of the Caribona River in the Las Delicias district.
Governor Yamil Arana Padauí expressed his concern about this situation and offered the full support of the Government of Bolívar to the relatives of the missing child.
“We have called on the National Government to accompany us in this emergency. The overflowing of streams and rivers has caused us significant losses in homes, belongings, animals, crops and merchandise,” said the president.
Bolívar, with its complex geography and numerous bodies of water, requires special attention to meet the challenges that lie ahead during the La Niña phenomenon.

In Montecristo, both the Caribona River and the Montecristo ravine have overflowed, affecting both urban and rural areas of the municipality. In addition, the overflowing of streams in Arenal del Sur and Norosí is reported, generating floods in rural areas of these localities.
The Sudden floods have caused significant losses, including homes, household goods, animals, crops and merchandise. This is the first flood of the year and has been the one with the highest flow recorded.
