In the Copa Sudamericana there was action for a Colombian team like Independiente Medellín,
who visited César Vallejo from Peru, and brought a categorical result: 5-1, in Trujillo.

César Vallejo’s goalkeeper, Carlos Grados, remembered this Tuesday the day they took him to see the ice, on a soccer day in which his defense was absent from the Copa Sudamericana and Deportivo Independiente Medellín (DIM) was transformed into a platoon of execution that scored five goals.

The goals for the Antioquia team were from Ménder García, Baldomero Perlaza; Miguel Monsalve, one of the great figures of the Antioqueños, and a double from Brayan Muñiz León.

In a group G match played in the Peruvian city of Trujillo, César Vallejo was a puppet in the hands of the ‘Powerful of the Mountains’, who had no rival and who forgave several clear opportunities to close a historic win.

It didn’t take long for the Paisa team to show hierarchy and its rival its defensive fragility. In the 15th minute, Miguel Monsalve took the ball in the heart of the midfield and advanced without his rivals making a small attempt to try to snatch the ball from him.

The DIM captain advanced and launched a pinpoint pass behind the defenders. Brayan León passed between the Peruvian centre-backs, whose indolence was only matched by his lack of communication, and he launched without opposition from the defense to open the scoring.

The joy for the Medellín team did not last long. In the 21st minute, a wild cross from the left side arrived peacefully into the hands of DIM goalkeeper Éder Chaux.

To the surprise of locals and visitors, the ball slipped out of his hands and landed at the feet of Jairo Vélez, who only had to push the ball into the nets.

The defensive catastrophe of the poet team was responsible for once again giving the advantage to Medellín. When one minute of regulation time had passed, the locals took a throw-in in their defensive zone, without any pressure from César Vallejo.

And despite everything, Geisson Perea was not able to control his teammate’s pass from the wing with his foot, allowing the ball to reach the heart of the area without intervention from other teammates.

León was waiting for him there, again, to shoot at Grados and score his team’s second goal.

The collapse came after the break. In the 59th minute, Monsalve again received a pass on the edge of the area, turned around – before the eyes of the César Vallejo defenders, the spectators with the best access to the match -, and made a new through pass to assist to Ménder García.

The Colombian player defined emphatically to score his team’s third.
In the 73rd minute, Monsalve changed his role from assistant to scorer: he picked up a ball in the warm zone of his attack, easily got rid of several rivals between dribbles and cuts, while the defenders did not pose a single kick to stop their attack and it reached the heart of the area almost without resistance.

Transmuted into Maradona, although surrounded by rivals who looked more than they ran, Monsalve scored the fourth.

The victory was completed in the 78th minute by Baldomero Perlaza, who received an assist from León to score the fifth.
With this result and good football performance, Alfredo Arias’ team is now in second position in the table with 9 points. In this way, DIM takes a breath and shows its head in this first half of the year, in which it was eliminated from the home runs of League I of Colombian soccer.
