Although Cali continues to decline in the number of homicides, with a decrease of 20%, the perception of insecurity continues among citizens, who report that thefts do not stop in the capital of the Valley and anxiety still accompanies them when leaving their homes at certain times of the day.
That is why the authorities have decided to increase the force in the city. Initially 313 uniformed personnel arrived, but in the last hours, 287 auxiliaries joined who will support prevention and citizen security tasks, for a total of 600 police officers.
These are young people between 18 and 24 years of age, the vast majority coming from Cali, but also from surrounding municipalities in the departments of Cauca and Nariño.
The auxiliaries went through a 60-day training process, on topics such as police service oriented to citizen attention, Human Rightsfirst responders in health, gender equality, ethics and transparency.
“Our commitment is to recover the city and it is hand in hand with the institutions, what we cannot continue allowing is politics to be ‘undermined’ the name of the Public Force,” stressed the mayor, Alejandro Eder.
Likewise, the president said that after a security council yesterday, a decrease in homicide was once again evident. “Homicide continues to decrease by 20%, theft in all its forms is also on the decline and above all, we continue working to consolidate these advances.”
On the other hand, revealed that the authorities are very close to finishing closing the illegal mines in the Farallones of Caliwhich would be one of the greatest results in the history of the country, this in view of COP16.
