These works were carried out in advance of the rainy season that will occur in the department.
With the aim of preventing future flooding in the winter season and protecting the community, cleaning work was carried out on the 7 canal in the municipality of El Retén, Magdalena. The cleaning work included the removal of debris, sediments and vegetation that obstructs the normal flow of water.

In addition to the cleaning tasks, municipal authorities have also carried out dialogues with the communities to promote citizen responsibility in the care of public spaces. The authorities call on the Retenara community to collaborate in the cleaning and maintenance tasks of public spaces. Citizens are invited not to throw garbage into canals and rivers, and to report any situation that may affect the normal flow of water.
