A Hispanic family is devastated after one of its members was stabbed Sunday night in San Jose.
This is a 30-year-old father of a family, who is described as a good person.
The man was stabbed around 6:00 pm, in the area of King Road and Lido Way and was taken to hospital where he is in critical condition.
His mother, who did not want to be identified, recalled when she received the call from authorities.
“If I was his mother, I told him yes, he said ‘he’s very injured, his intestines are out’, and I started crying and I didn’t answer the lady anymore,” the woman said.
The victim’s sister, who preferred not to be identified, was near where the attack occurred and said that a friend of her brother told her what had happened and that was when she went out to look for him.
“He was lying on the ground with a wound on his arm, it hurts a lot to see my brother like this,” said the man’s sister.
The woman claimed that they stabbed her brother because they mistook him for a gang member since he was wearing a blue sweater.
“They ran towards them and asked them if they were Scrapa and when they told them they got scared and ran, and managed to grab my brother,” the woman said.
The family assured that their loved one has never had a connection with gangs.
“He is a good father, a very good father to his daughter, a good brother when we deal with something he is there, he does us favors, his daughter asks about him a lot at this time, she cries,” said the victim’s sister.
His mother has remained in the hospital with her son since Sunday and stated that he has not opened his eyes, but she still speaks to him to give him strength.
“I tell him to calm down, that we are all supporting him and that we are waiting for him outside with his daughter and that everything is going to be fine,” said the affected woman. “I want to act strong but I can’t.”
They are now asking any potential witnesses who were present to please help with the investigation.
“Let them speak anonymously so that those responsible for harming my son can be caught,” said the mother of the family.
Police said detectives in the case will confirm on Wednesday whether the victims were stabbed by gang members as they continue to investigate the case and are actively searching for suspects.
