This Wednesday morning it was learned that a prosecutor delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice called the former mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, for questioning in the case of alleged corruption in the construction of the Bogotá Metro. The investigation also aims to find out if there was alleged illegal financing of the campaign of the senator and López’s wife, Angélica Lozano.
The investigation by the Supreme Court of Justice stems from a complaint published by Semana Magazine on September 23, in which it became known about an alleged network that diverted 12 billion pesos for Chinese and Colombian citizens from the works. construction of the Bogotá Metro. As revealed by the same publication, it appears that José Joaquín Silva, alias José Truchas, would have held meetings with several Colombian and Chinese people to divert money that would later end up in Senator Lozano’s campaign for the 2022 elections.
“On March 1, 2022, at 3:45 pm, Silva Ardila, also known as José Truchas, speaks with an unknown woman, to whom he reports the details of a conversation he had with the Chinese William or Dong. ‘He told me that they had to make a transfer of 3 billion pesos and tomorrow another of 3 billion for those politicians from the mayor’s Greens, and he showed me the WhatsApp that they send him to tell him where to consign for the campaign right now.’ ”says one of the conversations published by the magazine.
Likewise, it indicates that “What he is doing is the following, they are sending him 6,000 million from China, I don’t know how many dollars, for the congressman’s campaign (…) because they are moving a lot of money with that Congress thing; That is what I observed and they are money that is transferred from Chinese companies to give them works with the Metro.”
The file reveals that a citizen of Asian origin whose identity is still unknown is also being investigated. “The connection and importance of the carrier of the cellular subscriber is observed (…) who would respond to the name of William, possibly a person of Asian descent (sic) who would be immersed in acts of possible corruption of the subway of the city of Bogotá (…) and who within the records reveals their language with an accent from this area of the world and who would present interests to win the aforementioned hiring process”
The investigation began in the office of prosecutor 135 of Yopal, Cazanare, Lizeth Paola Rodríguez, who initiated the interceptions due to the serious events investigated in the largest civil project of the last century in the capital of the Republic.
