The Cuban government attaches great importance to economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations with the Eurasian Union and its member states, declared today Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, in the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The EAEU is a successful, attractive and sustainable integration project, he said while hailing the economic results of the bloc.

The President reiterated Cuba’s will and interest as an observer state to have greater participation in the Union’s mechanisms to move towards deeper integration.

Díaz-Canel highlighted the broad coincidences between Cuba’s National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030, with the medium and long-term priorities of the EAEU, with emphasis on the role of science and innovation.

He specified the lines of work in which the Caribbean country wants to deepen relations with the Union, placing emphasis on the spheres of industry, tourism, technical regulations, sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures, among others.

The Head of State spoke of advancing in the introduction of new Cuban products and maintaining the registration of those already existing in the Eurasian market.

Cuban president thanks the EEU for its fight against the United States blockade

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, thanked the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) for its fight against the blockade imposed on the island by the United States. This was declared at the EEU anniversary meeting, which was held in Moscow this Wednesday.

«We are a small country subjected for 16 decades to an economic, commercial and financial blockade, which has worsened in recent years with measures specially designed to prevent the success of development plans and make the daily life of the people more difficult. “The unfair inclusion of Cuba in the US list of States that supposedly sponsor terrorism has had a disastrous effect on the country’s financial operations, causing a very tense situation in the economy that the Cuban people face with admirable courage and creativity,” he stated. .

“Under such conditions, the historical understanding, friendship and support of countries that make up the EEU has an inestimable value that Cuba deeply appreciates,” he stressed. “Those who block us will never be able to understand and, therefore, will never be able to prevent the excellent relations between our countries,” Díaz-Canel concluded.

The president also reiterated his interest in Havana having a greater participation in the mechanisms of the union. “I sincerely believe that we all need a bettereitherr cooperation to promote joint projects in areas of joint interest,” he said. “I wish to reaffirm once again Cuba’s desire and commitment to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the EEU and the Member States,” she added.

The Cuban president arrived in Russia on Tuesday, and the next day he paid tribute to the historic revolutionary leader Fidel Castro Ruz by laying a wreath before the monument that represents him, located in the square that bears his name in Moscow.
