Vaca Muerta boosts Argentine business at the Houston fair

The formation Dead cow Not only is it the engine that today provides more than half of the country’s gas and oil, but in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), taking place this week in Houston, Texas, has been the common thread of both the sales and purchases of national firms.

He Argentine Pavilion, which in fact is a single stand located towards the end of the enormous 22,000 square meter fairgrounds, It has been a real anthill for the nearly fifty companies in the country that participate in the fair largest global hydrocarbon industry.

Although the stand does not have a single reference to Vaca Muerta, the shale formation has been the key in most of the negotiations carried out to date in this meeting that brims with cutting-edge tools and technology for all tastes.

When it comes to shopping, Most of the country’s operators have already held meetings with their potential suppliers from all over the world, given that the OTC stands out for the presence of firms from all continents.

But tomorrow, on the last day of the fair, The key day will be held for the firms that came to Houston to offer their products and technologies, among them Argentine firms. The business rounds will extend throughout much of the closing day of the OTC, and they will be the icing on the cake of four days of contacts in which many Argentine companies have already sealed agreements.

One of the firms that is in Houston precisely looking for investors from all over the world for its assets linked to Vaca Muerta is TBSA. Its CEO, Sebastián Cantero, explained that they have two large projects in hand: on the one hand, a section of the North Patagonian Train and on the other a urban development center in the heart of Vaca Muerta, in Añelo.

«Governor Rolando Figueroa spoke a few days ago about the Patagonian Train, the section from Zapala to the crossing with Chile, and that would be joining the Pacific with the Atlantic. It’s great news, more so for us than We are working in Añelo on the creation of an urban center with the arrival of a section of the train“, generating spaces for housing for industry,” said Cantero.

«Our business, which is real estate development, is like extra at this fair because they are fairs where a lot of iron is sold, a lot of metalworking for the industry, but they are ultimately our clients because they are the ones who want to install the projects that we put together. », Cantero explained about his presence at the OTC.

The proposal that he carried under his arm to market in Houston is 10,000 hectares of an urban project called Ciudad Central. «He is attached to Añelo, where the main objective is to make the arrival of the train that is the central station of Añelo,” he indicated and detailed that “it will arrive at our property and from there build the entire new city that will help the industry.”

But in addition, the firm has the project of a section of the North Patagonian Train. «We are working on putting together a financial trust to generate funds for the 77 kilometers of roads that go from Contraalmirante Cordero to Añelo“, indicated Cantero as he recalled that “even the previous government was going to start the work, not now with the current policy of not doing public works, but in any case it was always thought of as a private initiative.”

Currently, for this project, the head of TBSA explained that “we are gathering the will of the operators to be able to carry out the North Patagonian Train project of this advance, generating those meetings to see how much the potential cargo volume is “in order to have a source of financing.”

Cantero stressed that the plan is not only aimed at the oil industry. «Today there are 350,000 tons per year of fruit that goes to the port of Bahía Blanca. If we manage to put a free subzone in our space, we would have an export output volume, and we are already seeing doing the attempt to put a free subzone there or a tax warehouse to be able to nationalize the assets of use that are from outside.
