Around 10:00 pm last Tuesday, May 7, a turbo truck overturned on the road that leads from San Gil to Bucaramanga; specifically at kilometer 57 +377, at the height of the sector known as Pescadero.

According to the report from the Traffic and Transportation Section of the Santander Police Department, the driver lost control of his vehicle, with SET-413 license plates, and overturned over the Manco River. The hypothesis of the accident would be a mechanical failure.

The two victims of the accident, the driver and his companion, got out of the truck and stood on the stones of the water body while relief organizations and personnel from the SOS Asistencial IPS ambulance prepared the rescue work.

“Health personnel had to use ropes to transport the injured on stretchers from the Manco River to the ambulance and thus be able to transfer them to the nearest healthcare center. The two injured people had altered consciousness and burns on their bodies,” said a witness to the incident.

The two injured were identified as Edwin Castiblanco, 23 years old, and his brother Nicolás, 15 years old. Personnel from the SOS Asistencial IPS ambulance took them to the International Hospital of Colombia, HIC. Preliminary versions indicate that they are in the Intensive Care Unit, where the prognosis is reserved.

The victims of the accident have multiple wounds on their bodies. The minor suffered a craniocerebral trauma with exposure of a cephalic mass, so his state of health is delicate.

The turbo-type vehicle is not the property of the driver, his family member assured. The truck was rented to third parties to transport scrap metal. “We hope they give us more information about what happened to my brothers.
