Of the 64 IPS to which a letter of intent was sent, only UCIS of Colombia has signed an agreement with Fomag, This IPS is only enabled for the Metropolitan Area of Cúcuta where there are approximately 4,000 teachers, not counting their beneficiaries and pensioners.

Clara Contreras, a retired teacher from the municipality of Pamplona, who requires high-cost treatment for an illness she has suffered for several years, told RCN Radio: “I need my medications and the surprise is that I don’t appear in the system, they tell me that I need to travel to Cúcuta to update data and I have difficulty getting around.”

While Rocío Rojas, a teacher from the rural area of Cúcuta, said that “It is very difficult to get a medical appointment, I went to the UCIS IPS facilities and there I found long lines and problems in terms of connectivity, that is, I lost time and money because I work very far from the urban center of Cúcuta.

Given this panorama that Norte de Santander faces, as in other regions of the country, there are many questions from active teachers, retirees and their respective affiliated families.

The Secretary of Gender and Equity of the Executive Committee of Fecode, Victoria Avendaño, told RCN Radio that “The scenes we have seen throughout the country are regrettable, “These changes sought to improve the health service, but they could not be carried out in an improvised and accelerated manner; these indicate that there was no type of preparation.”

The union leader added that The country has an adult teacher, 50% face chronic health problems, Previously, there were ten operators nationwide, currently there is only one operator, Fiduprevisora, but it was not prepared to provide the health service.

Changes are required, but not in this way, when the discussion began, I always considered that it should be made a transition process to avoid chaos, like the one we are experiencing, today these results prove me right,” said Victoria Avendaño, Secretary of Gender and Equity of the Executive Committee of Fecode.
