The Church is waiting for the arrest of former priest Eduardo Córdova Bautista, who is a fugitive from justice accused of the crime of pedophilia, said Tomás Cruz Perales, spokesperson for the Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí.

A few days ago, the still attorney general, José Luis Ruiz Contreras, assured that they have been close to capturing Eduardo Córdova, who has been a fugitive for 10 years accused of the crimes of rape, qualified sexual abuse and illegal deprivation of liberty against minors. of age for 26 years who served as a priest, which even led to him being dismissed from the clerical state.

In this regard, the Spokesman of the Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí, pointed out that as a Church, they want the former priest to be arrested, “it will be a situation that is a sign of justice for many people, it will embarrass us as a Church but it is something for what we have already gone through and we want justice to be done, in that sense we have nothing more to say, other than being with justice.”

In that sense, he assured that the Church of Potosí does not have the capacity to cover up someone who has committed a crime, and the Vatican “much less so”, so he once again asked for forgiveness on behalf of the Church from the Christian community, the parishioner and mainly the victims, “(this situation) tells us that we are human, we have many sins, we stumble like everyone else and that does not mean justifying ourselves, but realizing our mistakes.”

On another topic, he reiterated the call to show solidarity with the brigade members and volunteers fighting the fire in Santa María del Río, which also spread to Tierra Nueva, for which he invited people to donate supplies such as drinks, soft drinks, water, serums, food to make cakes or cold soup, garbage bags, personal hygiene items such as soap, antibacterial gel, toilet paper, and napkins.

Volunteers are also requested who are willing to help prepare food, go to the disaster area, as well as work tools such as shovels or rakes, even borrowed ones, giving them a name and the place and then delivering them. Likewise, financial support is received to supply fuel to the vehicles in which the brigade members travel daily.

Donations are received in the parish of Tierra Nueva or in the Sanctuary of San José in the Capital of Potosí.

Finally, he called on ice companies that can bring this product as close to the disaster as possible to cool the drinks that are delivered to the brigade members.
