The intense fall of snow in the mountain area of the Valparaíso region caused the suspension of classes in at least four communes in the province of Los Andes this Wednesday, in addition to maintaining the closure of the Los Libertadores border crossing.
According to information collected by Radio Bío Bíothe cancellation of school activities was decided in communes such as Catemu, Santa María, San Felipe and Los Andes.
All due to the intense rainfall and snowfall recorded this week. Among the communes affected by the frontal system are Catemu, Santa María, San Felipe and Los Andes.
Likewise, the provincial presidential delegate of Los Andes, Cristian Aravena, recorded the 50mm record. of water fall on average and 70 centimeters of snow accumulated in the high mountain range.
On the other hand, the mayor of Putaendo, Mauricio Quiroz, pointed out that classes were suspended in all educational establishments in the commune to prevent accidents related to weather conditions.

In that same sense, Chilquinta’s customer services manager, Paulina Guzmán, indicated that 11,600 customers were affected by the weather conditions, but that things are gradually returning to normal.
