The Government of La Rioja has unanimously agreed today, May 9, with the unions of the Education Sector Board, the modification of Order 3/2003, of January 3, which dictates Instructions on Staff hours Teacher in Early Childhood Education Schools and Primary Education Colleges, in such a way that teachers must remain at the center 27 hours a week, instead of the current 29.

Through the agreement reached this morning with the modification of said Order, the Ministry of Education and Employment provides the schedule of Early Childhood and Primary Education teachers with legal security that has not existed until now, since the previous agreement reached in 2021 It was not regulated.

Specifically, the modification of Order 3/2003 focuses on the distribution of teachers’ hours in centers that teach Early Childhood and Primary Education, where they must remain 27 hours per week. Of these hours, 23 will be considered teaching hours and the other 4 will be mandatory complementary hours.

The rest, up to 35 hours per week, will be freely available to teachers for the preparation of teaching activities, professional development or any other complementary pedagogical activity.

Both those intended for teaching groups of students and the students’ supervised recess periods will be considered teaching hours. The four additional hours, which are mandatory at the center, must be completed by all teachers at the same time, with the aim of guaranteeing educational quality and coordination with the management team.

Among other activities, these four additional hours may be used to carry out interviews with parents, the attendance of teachers at meetings of tutors, group or Senate teachers and the programming of classroom activity or extracurricular and complementary activities.

The agreement reached today by the Education Sector Board has been signed by the Vice-Minister of Education, Universities and Vocational Training, Miguel Ángel Fernández, and representatives of the unions ANPE, CCOO, CSIF, STAR, UGT and the Interim Platform of La Rioja (PIR).
