The Cuban authorities conveyed a fraternal greeting from the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while reiterating their gratitude to the Turkish people and Government for the hospitality with which he was received in 2023, reported the Communication team of the Cuban Parliament.

In the meeting with Lazo Hernández, in the Havana Capitol, a memorandum of understanding was signed on the creation of a parliamentary working group; while the distinguished visitor praised the similarities between both peoples, and expressed his country’s support for the end of the US blockade. uuu against Cuba.

The Head of the Council of State also highlighted the good pace at which relations between the two nations are progressing, based on the high-level exchanges held, and recalled that May 25 marks the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

On the other hand, during the dialogue with the Cuban Prime Minister, at the Palace of the Revolution, the existing potential for cooperation was addressed, and important moments of mutual ties were recalled, such as the visit of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro to Istanbul, in nineteen ninety six; the arrival, for the first time in Cuba, in 2015, of a Türkiye president, in the figure of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the visit of Díaz-Canel, in November 2022, to that nation.

On his first official visit to the Island, the President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye was also received by the Vice President of the Republic, who informed him about the process of socioeconomic-administrative and legislative transformation taking place in the nation.

“We are working in the country under strong pressure,” denounced the Vice President, regarding the intensified blockade; while he made explicit his gratitude to Türkiye for his support at the UN.
