Invited by the Agriculture, Transportation and Livestock Commission of the Senate, the Minister of Government, Human Rights and Labor, Ricardo Villada, presented to the legislators the bill to modify standard No. 7126, through which it seeks to establish a regulatory framework for action that allows the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMT) to carry out technical studies, working with the municipalities, to form metropolitan areas within the province and develop more efficient transportation systems.

Along these lines, the president of the Commission, Walter Wayar, indicated that the Upper House had been working on a new Transportation Law because “shortcomings were noticeable and we came across things that did not allow us to move forward, so we decided to contact the Executive so that share with us the project they have been working on.”

Villada, for his part, explained that the Executive “made a particular modification to advance the specific creation of Metropolitan Areas in the Interior”; project that already has half a sanction in Deputies.

“Currently, the passenger transportation system of the province has two legal frameworks in force: 7126, which established the classification of everything that is transportation in Salta, where it is established that everything urban corresponds to the municipalities, interurban to the province, and the interjurisdictional to the city. And there is also law 7322 of 2004 where the province advances to a model where powers are blurred and metropolitan areas appear with the AMT”indicated the minister who broke down legal and technical aspects which also reflected law 6994 that establishes the power of the Province

Creating Metropolitan Areas would imply bringing together surrounding municipalities into “regionalizing” groups to provide a much more efficient transportation service, applying provincial policies for that group based on the needs detected by technical studies.

During the meeting, the senators raised specific transportation problems whatand affect their localities and departments. Finally, they addressed aspects related to the free ticket for retirees and students.

The president of SAETA, Claudio Morh, the president of the AMT, Marcelo Ferraris, the General Coordinator of the Ministry of Government, Javier Solá, and the senators Mashur Lapad, Jorge Soto, Dani Nolasco, Leonor Minetti, Alejandra Navarro participated in the meeting. , Leopoldo Salva, Diego Cari, Hector Calabro, Juan Cruz Curá, Carlos Lopez, Gonzalo Caro Dávalos, Manuel Pailler, Javier Mónico and Luis Altamirano.
