For the fourth time in 2024, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, arrived today in the province of Pinar del Río.

Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the president toured the municipality of Viñales to exchange and verify how much more progress can be made with creative resistance in the complex scenario that the country is experiencing. , reported the Presidency in X.

The Base Business Unit of the Viñales Livestock Company was the first point of his visit, a center that closed last year with losses.

In dialogue with Julio Suárez, director of the Territorial Company, the President inquired about workers’ salaries and strategies to diversify productions.

Díaz-Canel met with a tobacco wrapper destemming collective made up of 58 workers, mostly women.

There the head of state learned that although they have had losses in recent times, they seek to recover in a sustained manner by diversifying their productions.

The president insisted on managing everything that can be generated by the group and not only focus on tobacco, to minimize the salary effects on workers.

Díaz-Canel stopped on his tour to greet the children and teachers of the Ignacio Agramonte school, impacted in recent times by the passage of natural phenomena and which, thanks to the efforts of the Office of the Historian of Havana, was rehabilitated.

The President addressed the “Antonio Maceo” Cooperative, dedicated to various crops, grains and tobacco production.

At the site, the dignitary insisted to his 79 workers on the need to fulfill productive commitments to the population, based on efficient exploitation of the land.

It was explained that this is an area affected by hurricanes that requires new challenges to manage production with greater sustainability.

During this year, as part of his work tours, the President has visited the Pinar del Río municipalities of San Luis, Consolación del Sur and Minas de Matahambre.
