“They are going to help a lot to the existing sports leagues and the implementation of new sports leagues such as the ‘fencing league’ is expected.”

With the promise of improving road mobility in the fire sector, the municipal administration contemplates nearly $50,000 million for the construction of the Second North Avenue Road Interchange, a critical sector in terms of vehicular traffic.

One of the most important works for the current municipal administration that would benefit citizens in general is the Avenida Segunda Norte road interchange, in the central station sector of the Armenian Fire Department. The initial intention and vision proposed by the municipal administration, according to the Infrastructure Secretariat in charge of the civil engineer, Claudia Milena Arenas Agudelo, is to depress the road in the south-north direction and vice versa, to maintain the road corridor in both directions and Maintain a continuous flow of vehicles.

It is worth remembering that the Quindío government expressed its intention to contribute to the completion of this work with royalty resources, but the mayor’s office announced that it prefers to assume the investment in its entirety, taking into account that many of the works to be carried out with the resources of royalties usually take time due to the relevant procedures.

Arenas Agudelo expressed his gratitude to the governor, and explained that the Infrastructure Secretariat is contemplating an investment of nearly $50,000 million, including studies, auditing and construction.

“The project is included in the ‘Armenia with more opportunities’ Development Plan, and is planned for an estimated execution time of 20 months. This is a work that is urgently needed by Armenians, since this is one of the three points with the most traffic congestion, where nearly seven thousand vehicles pass through daily, according to studies by the Transit Secretariat,” said Arenas Agudelo.

The work of the Firefighters road interchange is included in the inter-administrative contract signed with the University of Quindío. And it already has studies and designs in phase 3, so it is waiting for the approval of Armenia’s development plan, which is currently being discussed in the Municipal Council, to begin the contracting process.

“Once the development plan is approved, together with the Ministry of Finance, we will be able to have the resources and begin the contracting process as such,” stressed Arenas Agudelo.

The official also referred to the details included in the work, mentioning that it consists of the construction of a depressed road on Carrera 19, between the Nisa Bulevar residential complex and the Coliseo del Café, guaranteeing constant traffic on this road; In addition, a roundabout between Avenida Los Camellos and Calle 2N, guaranteeing the passage and connection between Carrera 19 with Calle 2N and Avenida Los Camellos with Carrera 19.
