Meteorologist Sergio Morán anticipated that average temperatures will be around 2° degrees Celsius and that there will only be snowfall in mountain areas. In addition, he specified that a weekend with very low temperatures is coming.
For this year, a longer winter than usual is expected in La Rioja but without snowfall in the urban areas of the province.
This was stated by Sergio Morán, meteorologist and head of the La Rioja Station of the National Meteorological Service, who spoke with Riojavirtual Radio about the temperatures that are coming for the next few days and also for the winter season.
Immediately, Morán said that a weekend with very low temperatures is expected and that they will be around, on average, 5° degrees Celsius in the Capital, 3° in Chilecito and 1° degree in Chepes.
In addition, he specified that snowfall is expected but only for the western and northwest areas of the province. «The snowfalls are only for the mountain area. “For the Famatina area and the mountain area of Vinchina and General Lamadrid,” he added.
The meteorologist also said that, due to the effect of climate change, this winter is expected to be “a little longer” compared to previous years. He also reported that the average temperatures during winter will be around 2° degrees Celsius but clarified that there will be no snowfall in urban areas and that these will only fall in the mountain zone.
