Recently, in the first extraordinary session of the Second Finance Commission of the Departmental Assembly of Magdalena, the initial analyzes and debates of two key ordinance projects were carried out for the development of the department.

The first of them, Ordinance Project No. 111, proposed formalizing the name “Governor” as the only valid one to refer to the head of the departmental executive. This project seeks to standardize the terminology used in official documents and communications, ensuring clarity and uniformity in the reference to the leader of the departmental government.

The second project, identified as Ordinance Project No. 112, ratifies the Governor’s authority to set the salaries of employees of the central level staff for fiscal year 2024. This salary adjustment is proposed with the objective that the Governor can establish salaries that reflect both the needs of the public service and the current conditions of the labor market, thus facilitating the hiring and retention of highly qualified human talent.

Both projects were approved in the first debate by the Second Finance Commission, which represents a significant step in its legislative process. It is expected that in the coming weeks new debates will be held and voting will proceed for the final approval of these ordinances. The adoption of these measures seeks to strengthen the departmental administration and improve the efficiency of the public service in Magdalena.
