Starting today, the national team will face the Vuelta Antioquia, one of the great races on the Colombian cycling calendar.

The space will serve as the debut for the elite team of the Mayor’s Office of Manizales 100% Huevos Gobernación de Caldas, led by Dídier Alonnso Chaparro and Yesid Pira. They are also accompanied by Yeison Rincón, Jordan Tabares, Daniel Hoyos, Juan Pablo Vallejo, Luis Miguel Martínez, Jhon Ánderson Rodríguez, Alejandro Ruiz and Samuel Arias (under-23). Jhon Jairo Narváez will be the coach.

Dídier Chaparro spoke about the new challenge: “We were certain, we didn’t know if we were going to get out. We started with new hopes. We look like children releasing new material.”

The rider from Calden recognized the value of Supergiros passing through the region: “It was four years of work for everyone. If them, many of us would no longer be here.”

Chaparro, runner-up of the RCN Classic, recognizes that he must take the race pace: “We are training, but without competitions. The idea is to run and improve in that aspect. It is not easy, but we will do it.”

Regarding the incorporation of Yesid Pira, Chaparro said: “I am one more and with Yesid, who has very good conditions, the idea is to add and for the team to win. He is a rider who has already been in Europe and that will weigh.”

For his part, Yesid Pira indicated: “We are very excited. I liked the project, my coach recommended it to me and we will look at it step by step.”

Of the new colleagues, he added: “They are very good, I have references from them, we will get to know each other better.”
