Historical sites and intangible heritage of Santa Elena were surveyed

The Heritage area of ​​the Entre Ríos Culture Secretariat visited the town, toured different heritage buildings, recorded activities with strong roots in the community and offered an open talk. The survey covers the chamarrita, the popular carnival, real estate and the artisanal manufacture of bricks, among others.

Within the framework of a new edition of the Tierra Program, whose purpose consists of the identification and survey of material and intangible cultural heritage in the province, members of the Cultural and Environmental Heritage Area of ​​the Secretariat of Culture of Entre Ríos visited Santa Elena on Friday and Last Saturday.

Among the planned activities, they carried out tours of different heritage buildings, as well as meetings and interviews with various community actors for different declaration requests such as popular carnivals, the Chamarrita Provincial Festival and the special request for Consider the artisanal brick-making process. The request was presented by Soledad Casals, a reference in the sector.

The Land Program, implemented by the Cultural and Environmental Heritage Area, is developed within the framework of the Pcial Law. No. 10,911/21 on Identification and survey of material and intangible cultural heritage. That is the platform that gives meaning to the visit made by the members of the Ministry of Culture.

Talk and training

Architect Gabriel Terenzio and Lic. Paola Palleiro, members of the Heritage area of ​​the province, met with the team of the Directorate of Culture of the city of Santa Elena, coordinated by its director Prof. Daniela Cabrera, and then toasted an open talk to the community about cultural heritage. The meeting was held in the classroom of School No. 9 Juan Bautista Azopardo and was well attended.

Local authorities, cultural workers, historians, teachers, Tourism Technology students, secondary school students and the general public participated. It is worth clarifying that topics linked to the identification of cultural assets and manifestations, living expressions, festivals and meetings and traditions inherited by ancestors and that are still in force were presented. Examples were also shown for the protection and safeguarding of Santa Elenense heritage.

Record

Among the assets and manifestations surveyed for consideration of the possible declaration of Intangible Cultural Heritage are the Provincial Festival of La Chamarrita, the musical rhythm La Chamarrita, the Corso Popular de Santa Elena and the Ita-Porá and Babiyu troupes. Meanwhile, the following properties with historical belonging were identified and surveyed for their Cultural-Material Heritage Declaration: a set of buildings from the Agrotechnical School No. 151 El Quebracho, the buildings of the Museum and Historical Archive, the Historical Temple, the Bakery ” La Argentina” and the Teatro Colón Cinema. All these buildings preserve the identity and are part of the historical-cultural landscape of the city of Santa Elena, it was reported from the Heritage area.

Steps to follow

The survey of cultural assets or manifestations is carried out after prior identification both by municipal organizations and by personnel in charge of the Provincial Heritage Area.

The survey is photographic or through video: from the building in terms of material heritage and interviews with bearers of traditional knowledge to be safeguarded with respect to intangible heritage.

The field information is processed, investigated and classified in the Heritage Area, which as the enforcement authority in Entre Ríos will evaluate the relevance or not of the provincial declaration of cultural heritage of the material or intangible assets surveyed.
