A total of 18 projects and five investments in execution are fueling work at the Hermanos Díaz oil refinery in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

According to details of the oil refinery engineer Diaz Brothersinvestment director of the Santiago industry, “there are several actions that are being carried out right now to guarantee the vitality of the plant and its safety,” and in the short and medium terms, others must be developed.

“We are in the phase of preparing everything that is the capital repairs of Plants 1 and 2, planning to improve the technology, with an immediate feasibility study for number 2, the main one we have today.

“As prioritized objectives, we prepare the repair of the HTU or hydrofiner, since that is where the highest quality of diesel and other products is achieved, as well as the capital repair of Plant 1, which is where the clear assortments (gasoline, turbofuel) are obtained. of very high values.

Sánchez Montoya commented that progress is also being made “in a flowmetry project, to guarantee the traceability of the processing and that there are no fuel losses, and also in the reinforcement of the fire-fighting and lightning rod systems, in addition to anti-spill means, dedicated to minimizing environmental impacts in the bay.

The manager of the important Santiago factory also mentioned the investment to improve storage in tanks, vials, anti-spill booths, and something important, the construction of housing for workers based on the profits that we materialize.”

After several years with a very complex productive situation, which led to economic losses, a team of technicians and workers there, led by engineer Víctor Manuel Díaz Despaigne, materialized technological adjustments that allowed the processing of a “heavy” oil whose “ bullfight” is only done in Santiago de Cuba.
