A new Security Council was held in Yopal, in response to the events that have affected the tranquility of the community in recent days, among them, the explosive devices found, alleged threats in the Air Force and the National Army Brigade, extortion , the increase in cases of personal injuries and the theft of motorcycles.

According to the figures provided by the authorities, the crime rate in terms of theft from people has decreased by 30%, however, the incidents of extortion, personal injuries and theft of motorcycles have multiplied in the city; the latter, caused mainly by the opportunity factor.

Among the commitments reached during this sixth security council, the increase in patrols was established and it was agreed to multiply the monitoring of the investigation processes by the National Police, the Army, the Air Force, the INPEC, the Municipal Person’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office, the House of Justice and Migration Colombia, entities present at said meeting.

The Secretary of Municipal Government, Jorge Andrés Rodríguez, highlighted that “there will be no room for crime in the municipality, operations will be strengthened and work will be carried out in an articulated manner to mitigate criminal acts in the city.” Likewise, he expressed the importance of reporting against any suspicious action in the urban and rural sector.
