The Comptroller General of the Republic gave a period of 60 business days to complete the works of seven establishments dependent on the National Board of Kindergartens (Junji) in the O’Higgins Region.

The report issued by the controlling body was based on a request presented in March of last year by the representative Natalia Romeromember of the Family Commission of the Lower House, in which he denounced a serious delay in the construction and delivery of a series of kindergartens and nurseries by Junji, which were to be completed and inaugurated between 2021 and 2022.

After carrying out an audit, the Comptroller’s Office gave Junji a maximum of 60 business days to complete the works in the gardens Los Torunos (Graneros), Arturo Pérez Canto (Las Cabras), Villa Santa María (Machalí), Parral de Purén ( Coltauco), Peuco (Mostazal), Baquedano (Rancagua) and Miraflores (Chimbarongo).

According to the media The Typographerpart of the report indicates that “the regional management of Junji, in seven gardens – which have eight contracts with early termination associated with them – has not taken actions to complete the works, within a period that fluctuates between 337 to 980 days from its liquidation until May 31, 2023, thus failing to comply with the principle of speed“.

Representative Romero stated that “the forceful report that the Comptroller’s Office has just issued confirms everything that we have been warning about for two years: that Junji has acted with absolute irregularity in relation to the construction of kindergartens in the region, leaving hundreds of families without the possibility of having a place for their children.

The Comptroller’s Office also ordered the start of a disciplinary procedure within the Junji regional directorate after detecting that the organization failed to comply with the duties of simplification, speed and celerity by taking between four and eleven months to terminate the contracts early, after the companies in charge decided to abandon the works.
