A few days ago, the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riad Malki, held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Colombia, Luis Gilberto Murillo, where he had informed him of the Palestinian State’s intention to decorate the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, due to the defense of the Israeli attack on Gaza in recent months.
In the last hours, the delivery of the Great Necklace of the State of Palestine was completed in a recognition that took place in Casa de Nariño. “The president of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, has decided to award him on behalf of all of them (the Palestinian people) the most distinguished medal, the Great Necklace of the State of Palestinesaid Riad Malki.
The president took the opportunity to give a speech referring to the conflict in Gaza. “I reacted to the situation in Palestine because we knew the situation from a very young age”said President Petro who confirmed that he had received many decorations in his life but without a doubt this had been the most important of his entire life.
The head of state assured that the Nazis are in power and that, after so many workers’ struggles, Europe itself “gives itself over to the Nazis.” The president thus criticized France for its position and support for Israel.
“In Gaza that battle is being fought and it must be won, among the rubble, the blood, the torn bodies of boys and girls murdered by capital, between that hardship and that pain. We understand part of that in Colombia, because they have also massacred here,” Petro said.
The president compared the situation in Colombia with Palestine and said that we cannot turn our backs on it: “We are weak, but together we are humanity and we have to unite that union.”, that union must be built,” he assured. “Jesus was a Palestinian Jew, that was Jesus’ nationality, and he built a road that was that of the Jewish guerrilla,” he said.
Regarding Europe, Petro assured that the socialists in Germany who were intimidated by Hitler during the war, “they are not capable of stopping the genocide while still in powersince they are subordinated to a huge financial capital whose liquidity is based on the fossil economy.
“What is shooting is not Israel, it is a medium, it is a large financial fossil capital, against a people that cannot resist, endure”he said and assured that raising the flag is today’s moment, the young people who come out of universities in the United States, the young people who come out in Asia and Latin America are the genuine expression of a new humanity,” he said.
