The pools open on Saturday and extend the campaign by a week until September 15

The facilities of the La Molineta de Alfaro municipal sports center are finalizing each of the preparations to be ready to receive thousands of people this summer, from the moment they open their doors for the summer campaign this Saturday until, as a novelty, on the 15th. September.

This increase in bathing days, extending for a week longer than usual until now, seeks to respond to the demand of users to be able to cool off in them during a heat that lengthens more each day on the calendar.

In this preparation, the sports center remained closed to the public yesterday morning with the purpose of meeting another of the demands of its public. As reported by the City Council, and apologizing for any inconvenience it may cause, its various spaces remained closed to users in order to carry out the deratization and disinfestation tasks necessary “to prevent pests suffered in previous seasons.”

Let us remember that the municipal sports center covers a wide area in the La Molineta area with the tennis courts, the children’s play area and picnic area, the two indoor soccer fields and the fronton and the two swimming pools – the Olympic and the children’s – surrounded of large plots of grass. In the latter, users have regretted that in previous seasons they suffered the presence of various types of insects. To try to avoid this, this specific treatment arrived yesterday.

This preparation also occurs in the administrative field. The contracting table for the procedure has proposed among the six firms that participated in the call Ebone Servicios Educación Deporte to be in charge of the services of both lifeguarding and the provision of swimming courses, for which the City Council allocates 58,461.62 euros and 9,589.70 euros budget, respectively.

To offer the best service to bathers, the City Council requires in the contract specifications that there be at least six lifeguards for the two pools, the large one and the children’s one.

And for swimming courses for various ages, it has required at least three instructors. “We have proposed having a support system, especially for the times and levels that have the most influx, as an increase in the moments of greatest demand such as those in the early afternoon, where the little ones go, both for initiation and adaptation.” explains Mayor Yolanda Preciado.
