A more subject Mikado | The Rioja

The permanence of Mikado Flowers, the landscape sculpture designed by the Berlin artist Malte Martin, in Felipe VI Park, next to the new station, will require some task beyond those carried out at the time of its installation.

The assembly has already been fenced and, in several notices, it is noted that it is a sculptural group of a provisional nature and that in no case does it constitute part of the public urban furniture. This is to explain that the City Council will not be responsible for the consequences derived from the manipulation of the installation.

Why fences? The municipal services park will now take care of further strengthening the attachment to the ground of the elements that make up the work, as reported by the City Council itself. In addition, LIF 2002, the company Logroño Integración has offered to carry out a perimeter closure based on bushes.

The Mikado Flowers complex has been part of the Concentric architecture competition that was held between April and May of this year. For the first time, some of the works of ephemeral architecture that have been shown have remained in the streets and squares for longer.

The small forest of poplars in the Plaza de la Diversidad – ‘Poplar Assembly’ by Javier García – has been removed just a few days ago, a month after the other assemblies, and has motivated a reflection on the residential use of the square in the that settles.

The furniture that the Finnish team Raiviobumann designed during the festival for the plaza on which the library itself opens has also been recovered, in this case for users of the Rafael Azcona municipal library.

If Mikado Flowers stays as promised, it will be accompanied by some tweaks that increase the security of the facility.
