As at the national level, a march was held in San Juan in protest against the Base Law, but it also had a strong university connotation in demand for salary improvements. The demonstration began at 5 p.m. in the Plaza 25 de Mayo, and unlike what happened in Buenos Aires, no incidents were recorded.

Left-wing groups, social movements, university teaching unions and other sectors participated in the mobilization. The march concluded at the provincial Legislature, located at the intersection of Libertador and Las Heras streets.

This Wednesday, in the afternoon, the ADICUS union, along with other social, political and union organizations, marched through the streets of downtown San Juan. The protest was carried out to demand better pay, after a 48-hour strike carried out by university students on Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 12.

Jaime Barcelona, representative of ADICUS, had previously mentioned that the force measure on Tuesday, June 11, had high support in San Juan, exceeding 70% in the different faculties of the National University of San Juan and also in pre-university schools.

During the march, protesters carried banners and posters against adjustments, salary cuts and the treatment of the Bases Law, among other critical points of the national government. In addition to the union that brings together university teachers and non-teaching staff, social organizations and other unions also participated, such as housewives, truck drivers and the Polo Obrero.

The mobilization in San Juan was framed in the context of the session of the National Congress on the Bases Law, a debate that had a marathon day and was the scene of various marches and demonstrations in its vicinity by protesters.

Despite the tension present in other parts of the country, the march in San Juan took place peacefully, concluding without incident at the provincial Legislature.
