From Adiunt they commented that the budget allocated to UNT was decreasing over the years, seriously affecting the infrastructure and basic functioning of the university.

The National University of Tucumán (UNT) is at the center of a problem that affects its students and teachers. Anahí Rodríguezrepresentative of the Association of Teachers and Researchers of the National University of Tucumán (Adiunt)denounced in “Buen Día” the situation in pre-university schools, where students must attend classes with quilts due to the lack of adequate heating.

“We have pre-university schools where students go to class with quilts,” said Rodríguez. “The cold is unsustainable. There is no heating and the windows are in very precarious conditions,” he commented.

The situation is not only limited to the lack of heating. Rodríguez pointed out that the budget allocated to UNT was decreasing over the years, seriously affecting the infrastructure and basic functioning of the university.

“UNT’s participation in the general budget for universities is decreasing, and we now see the consequences,” he said.

The impact of the crisis is also felt in the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff. Rodríguez highlighted that current salaries are below the poverty line.

“A teacher of practical work with exclusive dedication, without seniority, is charging $491,000. A teacher with semi-exclusive dedication is at $270,000, and a simple one, at approximately 180,000 pesos. This is without considering seniority,” he explained.

Faced with this situation, Adiunt called for a 48-hour strike as continuity of the process started on April 23, seeking to make visible and demand solutions to the problems they face. “We are going to a strike and we are trying to make this 48-hour strike a continuity of the process that opened on April 23. Although now the rectors have indicated that the crisis would be closed, it is not closed, and the process is still open,” Rodriguez stated.
