University of Valparaíso – UV Theater students install LGBTIQANB+ and non-binary flags on the front of the School

For the third consecutive year, the students of the UV Theater School took to the streets to install the LGBTIQANB+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Inter, Queer, Asexual, Non-Binary) and Non-Binary flags on the front of the unit academic located at Avenida Brasil 1647, Valparaíso. The action, which takes place every first Tuesday in June, seeks to begin the commemoration of LGBTIQANB+ Pride Month.

Stationed at the door of the School, the students gathered to listen to a speech by Javi Calvo, and then gave way to the process of raising both flags that will fly throughout the month.

Subsequently, an artistic activity took place inside the headquarters, with musical interventions, exhibitions, poetry and rhythmic reading, to close with an open microphone.

Aura Villalobos, UV Theater student, explained that “this activity is carried out every year with the aim of making visible and commemorating the LGBTIQANB+ community. Our objective is to make known the reality that surrounds us and also all the people who inhabit those realities.”

“We want to forget the people who are constantly violated, discriminated against and murdered, among other things, and also give the message that these acts are not repeated,” he said.
