Various authorities met at the Copiapó Regional Hospital to provide information about the reinforcement that has been given to the vaccination campaign in Atacama, which took place during the morning of this Tuesday.
As explained, this reinforcement of the campaign has been carried out through various operations deployed in the most crucial points, hoping to reach as many people as possible.
One of the great novelties is a home vaccination operation, available for the target group and people with mobility problems.
Nostálgica was on site and spoke with Bernardo Villablanca, Director of the Atacama Health Service, who highlighted the importance of having an immunized community.
Work that has allowed us to significantly increase the number of vaccinated people, reaching 74% coverage at the regional level.
It is expected that vaccination operations will continue to be deployed in fairs, shopping centers, plazas and other high-traffic places; therefore, additional personnel have been hired to support this matter.
On the other hand, it was reported that there is a contingency plan to respond appropriately in the event of a significant increase in serious cases of respiratory diseases.
Iván Apurahal, from the Municipal Health Directorate, commented that people can get vaccinated at health facilities or go to vaccination operations, whose locations and operating hours are informed through social networks.
Finally, the Vice President of CONFUSAM Atacama, Johanna Vega, commented that there has been an increase in consultations for respiratory symptoms, so it is essential to have a protected population, especially before the arrival of winter.
