The passport application and delivery process in Córdoba has improved thanks to the implementation of a new digital platform that prevents the resale of appointments and ensures that the applicant is the one who actually attends their appointment. The Government of Córdoba launched this new system as part of the measures to streamline procedures, combat corruption and improve citizen service.

With the new platform, users can request their passport appointment directly from their cell phone, entering their ID number and email. This mechanism eliminates the need to go to processors or pay for an appointment, practices that were common in the previous system and that generated cost overruns and delays for citizens.

“The issue of applications and also the delivery of passports has improved because previously, with the last platform, what they had was that they submitted a false form and then went out to sell the places. “That’s over,” said Governor Erasmo Zuleta Bechara.

One of the main benefits of the new system is that it guarantees that the person who requests the appointment is the same person who attends it. “Here, the one who makes the appointment is the person who is really going to do the procedure. It’s not like they put in a name and then, when he goes to the appointment, someone else goes.”explained the president.

The Government of Córdoba has been working to improve citizen service processes, with the aim of reducing time, costs and unnecessary procedures. The implementation of the new passport platform adds to other measures, such as the centralization of services in a single headquarters and the digitalization of procedures.

At the moment, The Government offers 70 passport appointments twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. Although demand is high, authorities are working to expand care capacity, taking into account space limitations in current facilities.
