So far this year, Santander has registered a total of 657 cases of Covid-19, according to official data. At the national level, of the 17 thousand cases reported in Colombia in the same period, 232 are concentrated in the capital of Santander.
Although infection numbers have decreased compared to the beginning of the pandemic, health authorities warn about the importance of maintaining surveillance and implementing preventive measures. To date, 109 patients in the process of recovery are reported throughout the department.
Since the start of the health crisis in March 2020, Santander has registered a total of 297,560 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 8,000 unfortunate deaths. Furthermore, in recent months, about 480 hospitalizations have been attributed to Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), exacerbated by climate changes.
To combat this situation, health entities emphasize the importance of vaccination as one of the main preventive tools. Currently, more than one million people in Santander have completed their vaccination schedule against Covid-19, which has contributed significantly to the immunization of the population.
