Within the framework of the investigation of the case of the Putre conscripts, this Friday, the visiting minister Jenny Book ordered the exhumation of the body of the young soldier Franco Vargaswho died on April 27 in the middle of military training of the Motorized Brigade No. 24 “Huamachuco”.
The determination was communicated this day, where it is instructed that the Investigation police be the one who carries out the feasibility proceedings within a maximum period of 20 days so that the Legal Medical Service (SML) can proceed.

After the exhumation, the visiting minister called for the application of the “Minnesota Protocol”, a method used in cases of deaths that occur at the hands of State agents, while the victims are in their custody.
The director of the SML in Santiago and the mother of the deceased young man, Romy Vargaswere notified of this determination issued this day, which aims to clarify the causes of the soldier’s death and guarantee a fair investigation.
It is worth mentioning that this Friday the Judiciary reported that Minister Book will carry out a series of procedures starting next Monday, June 17, including a reconstruction of the scene of the events in Arica.
