Rain alert in Neuquén and Río Negro

This Wednesday, an alert is in effect in much of the region. “There is red alert for the mountain region, what is Alto Valle does not cover, there may be some precipitation but without generating complications. There is a yellow alert but in the low areas of Neuquén (plateaus from the center to the west) and the Rio Negro mountain range from Bariloche to El Bolsón,” explained Rodolfo Merlino of the SMN:

He specified that the orange alert for today is in the lake region, from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura, and from San Martín to Mendoza, red alert “due to abundant water fall”, with a cumulative of 70 to 90 millimeters.

«A low pressure center dominates in the South Pacific that causes there to be a cyclone where the cloudiness generated by the humidity of the Pacific Ocean accumulates but towards the northand it is pushing it towards the Cordillera on the Chilean side and something is also happening towards our country as well,” Merlino explained.

He noted that in the area there was a series of temperatures for “five years well above normal” somewhat due to global warming and because there was por three years an influence of La Niña which caused greater drought “and dry soils remain warmer longer.”

Regarding winter, he said that it is expected in the region “for the next three months that there will be precipitation a little above normal and temperatures also lower than normal.”
