Just a few hours ago, the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, stated from the Principal Theater of Sancti Spíritus that the city and the territory constitute a must-see stop for the most important tourist circuits and people who visit the country. , it was not only because, precisely this June 4, it completed 510 years as the fourth town founded in Cuba by Spanish colonization.

In addition to its historical potential, cultural sediment and heritage values, it has notable internal potential and the strength of a link with the only Cuban city with the presence of a French style (Cienfuegos) and with a Holy Trinity, also in the south of the archipelago, which accumulates equally five centuries and ten years of increasingly surprising and attractive existence.

Solemn – as usually happens in these cases – and with the presence of the highest political and government authorities of the province, the Assembly of Popular Power in the municipality granted well-deserved symbols of the city to personalities, groups and institutions of the territory, and memories that They also included, with Sancti Spiritus satisfaction, the Prime Minister himself and Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the Cuban Parliament.

The session – and the entire program conceived against today’s adverse winds and tides – was, as Marrero evoked, also a tribute from entire generations to popular and cultural figures such as Teofilito, to the Santiago (carnaval) of Sancti Spiritus, to the very Creole guayabera and to the colossal effort – which does not end – to continue conserving the rich heritage, while advancing territorial autonomy, food production and the preservation of other achievements in the current complex situation.
