Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) will undertake a series of modernization works on the aqueduct and sewage networks of Bello, a municipality that at the beginning of this month suffered failures in the provision of these services due to an obstruction.

The jobs, which They contemplate an investment of $120,000 millionwill consist of the construction of two large drinking water storage tanks, new aqueduct networks and the modernization of sewage networks.

The intervention will have an impact on nearly 17,000 homes in that municipality in the north of Aburrá, in the communes of Bellavista, Altos de Niquía and Niquía.

As reported by EPM in a statement, on the side of the aqueduct at least 5.2 kilometers of new networks will be built and two new tanks will be enabled, one specifically located in Bellavista, with a capacity of 1,400 cubic meters, and another in fiberglass located in the Quitasol path, the latter with a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters that can be expanded up to double .

On the side of seweragethe company will modernize at least 1.6 kilometers of pipeline.

In addition to replacing pipes that have already reached their useful life, prone to leaks and blockages, EPM added that the works are necessary to expand the capacity of public services throughout the northwest of Bello, which in recent decades has been one of the areas with greatest urban growth in the metropolitan region.
