The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, María Inés Zigarán, highlighted that “in these fifty years that the city of El Carmen is celebrating, we wanted to celebrate Environment Day by highlighting the challenges we face, due to the acute crisis that our planet is going through. , and against which we must act immediately.”

After greeting Governor Carlos Sadir and Vice Governor Alberto Bernis, he recognized that it is necessary to convey a hopeful message in the face of the climate crisis, due to loss of biodiversity and pollution; He then mentioned that “the new generations of boys and girls are joining in to be part of the generation of the restoration of the planet, which is a slogan with which the UN calls us this year: we are the earth, we are the future, we are the restoration generation”.

“We have damaged the planet in various ways,” he added, “but today more than ever, all generations are called to work together to restore balance, returning the conditions that allow life on our planet, preserving biodiversity and ecosystem values.”

For her part, the Minister of Education Miriam Serrano expressed that “this commitment expressed by the seventh-year students is also a commitment of everyone for our Earth. We see how vehemently boys and girls express the need to take care of the environment.”

“I highlight the work of the entire educational community of the province on this day – he added – and the environmental education program together with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.” “These are policies that the governor always emphasizes to us, to continue working for this Jujuy Verde, for this carbon footprint that we must reduce, and above all, take care of this land that is for us and for future generations,” he concluded.

The mayor of the Municipality of El Carmen, Víctor Hugo González, thanked the presence of all the people who came to commemorate this date. Likewise, he mentioned that “there is a great responsibility for the present and future of the boys and girls who are here today.”

“We are responsible, and from the Municipality we are committed to reconverting the way of management in our city, from the waste collection system, the lighting, the green spaces, among other actions,” he pointed out.

In turn, the director of the Carrillo School, Alicia Rueda, reflected on the importance of commemorating this day by incorporating sustainable practices: “we have the possibility of caring for and restoring our planet, with small, big actions,” said the teacher. In addition, she called on the entire educational community and citizens in general to commit to caring for the environment. “Turning off the light if we don’t use it, turning off the faucet, separating and managing waste efficiently, among other practices.”

In the end, the authorities delivered some specimens of native trees that the Carrillo School will plant with its students, and some ecological bags with some gifts for the 140 students who committed to environmental care. They also shared an artistic presentation by Fernando Ortiz, a teacher at Rural School No. 4 of El Sunchal, and a musical theater performance by sixth grade students from the “Joaquín Carrillo” School.
