(Cnn in Spanish) — A video released by the state agency TASS shows an alleged mercenary of Colombian nationality who, according to the Kremlin, was recruited by Ukraine through “social networks.”

The man, visibly beaten, identifies himself as Miguel Ángel Cárdenas Montilla, 32, and shows his passport to the camera. This person said that he began his trip from Colombia after watching videos on TikTok.

In the recording, which the TASS agency attributes to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the man appears with a swollen eye and says that he was there due to an alleged recruitment of mercenaries to fight for the Ukrainian side that he had seen on social networks.

CNN has not been able to independently verify the conditions under which the video was recorded, nor what occurred before or after filming. For its part, the Colombian Foreign Ministry – also consulted by CNN – said it had no knowledge of the case until now.

CNN is also making efforts to find out the position of the Ukrainian Government regarding the video released by Russia.

The information comes two days after the Colombian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Roy Barreras, said that there were at least 51 dead Colombians who had gone as mercenaries to Ukraine.

“I am processing the repatriation of the body of the last person killed in combat 3 days ago. Thanks to the Polish Embassy, which is a bridge of communication and painful procedures. DON’T GO TO KILL AND KILL YOURSELF in someone else’s war just for money. Bad idea! It’s a death trap. Literally cannon fodder! ”He wrote on Tuesday on his X account, formerly Twitter.
