“This is a trip through Chile Chico”: the invitation from musician Rolando Formón with his new single “Casita de Barro”

After 3 years of his first EP “Breviajes, tres pandemic songs and a crazy man loose”, the musician from Chile Chico, in the south of the Aysén Region, releases this song with which he presents his new album “Delta Marrón”.

On the shores of Lake General Carrera, with a constant strong wind and the vast Patagonian steppe that disappears into the horizon, Rolando Formón began to make the adobes of what would be his home, just as many of the inhabitants who populated this area did. . Along with this construction, he was also forging his new album, a proposal that evolves both in his music, in aesthetics and in his inspiration.

… “It happens that when I leave my house, I have to walk about a hundred meters to the gate, and I always look back, at the little house. And that exercise is what gave life to this song, ‘that little clay house that you can see from afar’ It’s an exercise that I do naturally. Like looking at it from above”… says Rolando about “Casita de Barro”, the first song on the album.

In total there are nine songs that, together with the rap and beats already known in its first installments, mix folklore and pop, with sounds typical of the Patagonian steppe such as the wind that moves the coirones and the coast of the largest lake in Chile.

“It has rap, but with a lot of guitar, where you can tell that it is southern, Patagonian rap. Southern because it always takes you to the house, to the mate, to the wood stove, so it is a music made in the south by a Patagonian. “He’s fed up with the steppe and the pampas,” adds Formon.

It should be noted that the next singles will be revealed during 2024, in presentations that Formon himself will announce through his social networks.

Video clip

“Casita de Barro” is not only the first single from the Delta Marrón album, but it is also the first video clip of this work, which was financed thanks to the National Music Fund, 2023 call of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, aimed at the production and dissemination of video clips, becoming the only regional work selected in this edition.

The original idea was worked on by Jerson Bautista Cortéz, director of the film through Yungay Road and by the designer Dalila Becerra, art director of the video clip, with the support of Rolando Formón himself as producer, Mario Gasc in photographic direction, Gabriel Asenie in camera assistance and Jorge Fortune in musical production.

Recorded 100% in Chile Chico, this audiovisual proposal shows the places that inspired and accompanied Formón in the creation of the album, giving way to an upcoming video clip that will be announced soon.

“It is an opportunity for people who do not know life in the south, so that they can get closer, or whoever came through, can say ‘I traveled to Chile Chico, to the Aysén region, to Patagonia a little’, to through these songs. Because it talks about things that have always been talked about, that we all talk about, but with things that are very characteristic of the life of this place.”
