The sale of used cars in the province of La Rioja suffered a drop of 26.4% during the first four months of the year and, with that figure, the province was ranked second in the country where operations in the sector decreased the most.. This was revealed in the monthly report prepared by the Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA), and published by the web portal Rioja Economy.

According to the document, between January and April, 1,603 used cars were sold, while in the same period of 2023, 2,178 operations had been completed, which translates into a 26.4% decline in sales. The provinces that suffered the greatest decrease were Formosa with 30.5%, La Rioja with 26.4% and Jujuy with 25.1%.. Meanwhile, those that fell the least were Entre Ríos (6.9%) and Mendoza (5.9%).

Notably, In April, the sector also had red numbers. The CAA report revealed that, in that month, 474 used vehicles were sold, while in the same month last year 514 units had been sold. That determined a drop of 7.8% in operations. In addition, CAA data reflected that, in April, an average of almost 16 cars were sold per day in La Rioja.

The automotive sector accumulates four consecutive months with declining sales: Operations fell in both January and February, March and April. The last time an increase was reported was in December of last year (+2.4%).

In turn, at the country level, sales in the sector increased by 4.6% in April, compared to the same month in 2023. This means that, in the month analyzed, the purchase of used cars in La Rioja fell more than 12 points percentages below the national average.

A report from the Association of Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) indicated that, in April, 139 new cars were sold in La Rioja; while, in the same month last year, 150 patents had been registered. This negative difference showed a drop in new car sales of 7.3% in the province.

At the same time, In the accumulated period from January to April, sales fell by 29% in relation to the same period of the previous year. The figures indicate that, in the first four months of this year, 520 0 km cars were sold in the province, compared to the 732 vehicles that had been sold in the same period last year.

At the country level, operations in the sector decreased by 5.9% in April, compared to the same month in 2023. This means that the purchase of 0 km cars in La Rioja was 1.4% below the national average. .
