Representatives of the Corporation of Engineering Faculties of Chile raised the need to recognize the productivity orientations associated with program accreditation processes, in addition to work related to innovation and industry.

Analyzing the accreditation process of postgraduate programs in the area of engineering was the objective of the meeting held by the board of directors of the Corporation of Engineering Faculties of Chile (Condefi), with the National Accreditation Commission (CNA).

During the meeting, in which Dr. Hernán Cáceres, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Geological Sciences of the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), participated, the representatives of the Corporation raised the need to recognize the productivity orientations associated with the program accreditation processes, in addition to work related to innovation and industry.

Condefi is an entity that currently brings together 35 faculties from various public and private universities in the country.

Regarding the meeting, its members assured that from postgraduate degrees, engineering faculties can respond to the needs of the country, developing technological capabilities that improve Chile’s competitiveness.

In this context, the entity considers it essential that applied research, innovation and technology transfer receive the same recognition as the indicators used in scientific accreditation, since, as they explain, by its very nature, engineering is linked to the application of technology. science.

One of Condefi’s agreements with CNA was to collaboratively participate in the definition of new productivity guidelines that guide future program accreditation processes, particularly those of postgraduate and doctoral degrees.

This new definition will seek to guide the development of advanced human capital training programs in Chile towards the requirements of sustainable productive development.

To this end, in the next session of the Extraordinary Assembly of Condefi, the CNA will formalize this agreement, to later jointly define a joint work itinerary.

From Condefi they thanked the CNA for its openness and willingness to dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to quality and excellence in the training of engineers so that in this way they continue to contribute to the sustainable development and innovation of our country.
