Energy Transition Table installed in Huila

The departmental government of Huila, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Chamber of Commerce and private sector actors, have successfully carried out the energy transition table. This exercise, which has been underway for some months, is a significant step in the region’s commitment to sustainable development and the generation of clean energy.

The energy transition table was coordinated by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Alto Magdalena (CAM), Electrohuila and actors from academia, consolidating a joint effort to mobilize and strengthen work in energy communities and municipalities. The presence of these important actors underlines the relevance and impact of this initiative.

“This energy transition table that was held is very important because we managed to coordinate with the CAM, Electrohuila and the academy, in order to mobilize the work that is being carried out with the energy communities, with the energy municipalities but also with more than 90 projects that are in phase 1 with the national government and that have to advance precisely in terms of energy generation,” explained Ricardo Vera Torres, Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism of Huila.

During the session, the progress of more than 90 projects filed in phase 1 with the national government was highlighted, which are essential for energy generation in the region. These projects represent an opportunity for Huila in terms of sustainable energy development.

“The departmental government is a pioneer in formalizing an energy transition table in the country, leading the way towards a diversified and sustainable energy matrix. Since 2020, projects have been carried out with educational institutions through open calls, and with the administration of Governor Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, the registration of more than a thousand energy communities and 26 energy municipalities has been achieved,” said the head of the departmental portfolio.

Likewise, he explained that these advances have allowed the formulation of important projects in energy generation, working hand in hand with the private sector. This joint effort reflects Huila’s commitment to the transition to clean energy and its leadership in the implementation of sustainable energy policies.

“This installation of the energy transition table for the department of Huila is an advance in terms of social, political and economic will of the institutions of the department in the face of this transition process in the department and of course it is a context that has to “to do with the country in general, here the challenges of the transition have to do with the use of renewable energies in Huila as an economic aspect,” highlighted Andrés Felipe Morales, territorial liaison of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

As progress achieved in this energy transition table, four sub-tables were formed; 1. Legal, 2 Energy Projects, Formulation and Calls, 3 Pedagogy on Energy Transition and 4 Renewable Energies; These sub-tables will be in charge of receiving the proposals and the invitation is open to mayors and social organizations for the construction of the energy transition route for Huila.
