Government reduces subsidies and electricity increases 80% in Entre Ríos

Enersa reported that the National Government updated electricity prices and reduced subsidies, which will impact the values of the province’s electricity bills. Low and medium income users would suffer increases of 80% on average and those with more purchasing power of 25%.

The company from Entre Ríos indicated in a statement sent to ONE that the Ministry of Energy of the Nation, through Resolutions No. 90/2024 and 92/2024, updated the prices of electrical energy as of June 1, 2024. This adjustment is due to an increase in the seasonal price of energy, to changes in subsidy levels, and to the application of new limits on subsidized consumption, the entity stated.

In this way, from now on only Level 2 (lowest income) and Level 3 (average income) residential users will retain subsidies, up to certain “base consumption.” For excess consumption, as is already the case with the rest of the N1 (high-income) residential and non-residential users, users will pay the full price of wholesale electricity.

Consequently, the Provincial Energy Regulatory Entity (EPRE) has updated the tariff tables (Resolution No. 125/24) as of June 1.

N2 residential users (lower income), who had a 94% wholesale price subsidy for all their consumption, will from now on have a 72% subsidy for the first 700 kWh/two months. In this way, they would experience an average increase in their bill of around 83%.

N3 residential users (middle income), who had a 92% wholesale price subsidy for consumption of up to 800 kWh/two months, will now have a 55% subsidy for the first 500 kWh/two months. In this way, they would experience an average increase in their bill of around 89%.

N1 residential users (high income), and the rest of the rate categories, would have increases of around 26%.

Registration of Access to Subsidies

It is important that those users who have not yet registered in the Registry of Access to Energy Subsidies (RASE), or who need to update the information they declared in a timely manner, do so as soon as possible. Those who do not register, or have decided to waive the subsidy, will receive “N1 user treatment” (high income and no subsidy). The site can be accessed through this link.
