The department of Córdoba faces significant socioeconomic challenges, including high unemployment rates, especially among the young population, high levels of labor informality and limited access to higher education. as stated by Governor Erasmo Zuleta Bechara during his speech at the Caribbean Vision Forum 2052, held within the framework of the 62nd National Livestock Fair in Montería.

During his presentation, Zuleta Bechara revealed that unemployment in Córdoba exceeds 15%, while youth unemployment is above 25%. Furthermore, labor informality in the department reaches levels higher than 65%.

“Here we have unemployment above 15%, youth unemployment above 25%, informality above 65%,” the president said.

The governor also highlighted the worrying figures related to access to higher education in the department. According to the data presented, of every 100 young people who finish high school, only 20 manage to access higher education.

The situation is even more critical in municipalities like Tierralta, where a population of more than 50 thousand victims of the armed conflict is concentrated.. “In Tierralta, out of every hundred high school graduates, barely six access higher education,” said Zuleta Bechara.

These socioeconomic challenges were addressed by the governor in the context of his vision to transform the economic dynamics of the department and improve its competitiveness at the national level. Zuleta Bechara emphasized the need for public spending oriented towards investment that allows closing historical gaps and generating favorable conditions for the development of Córdoba.

The challenges are significant in terms of employment, informality and access to higher education. The president was emphatic when pointing out that These problems require priority attention and concrete actions by the authorities and society in general to promote the socioeconomic development of the department.
