National record for Dilan Graciano!

“Nothing is impossible” those were the words that Dilan Andrés Graciano Durango repeated to himself during the javelin throwing competition, which took place on the afternoon of this Wednesday, June 5, at the El Salitre Recreational Sports Unit in Bogotá, as part of the national final of the Intercollegiate Games. And this young man from Apartadó managed to break the national record for javelin throwing in less than an hour, three times. The first record was achieved with a distance of: 59.25m, the second: 59.50m, and the third: 60.57m. Mark that, of course, led him to win the gold medal.

“It was a tough preparation. In the last competition I did poorly, I don’t know if it was the technique, but one sets out to improve and thank God we came here and gave everything we had. I had it in my head that it was a training session and I did what I do in a training session. Sometimes it is because of the mind that plays tricks on us in competitions and we get very stressed, but this time I wanted to take it as training,” said Dilan Graciano at the end of the day.

Dilan, 15 years old, represents the San Pedro Claver Educational Institution in Apartadó. This athlete hopes to continue the next days of competition, participating in: shot put and 5x80m flat relay.
