Last Wednesday, June 5, the Congress of the Republic approved in its final debate the law that seeks to internationalize the El Alcaraván de Yopal airport, an initiative promoted by Senator Alirio Barrera Rodríguez.


During the plenary session, Senator Barrera said that “This achievement is the result of a prolonged struggle and is expected to have a significant impact on the region, promoting tourism, commerce and job creation, as well as energizing the entire economic chain. of the Orinoquía.”

According to the senator, a significant increase in the flow of national and international tourists is expected, which will boost the development of the hotel industry, restaurants, transportation and other tourist services. In addition, new direct and indirect jobs will be created at the airport and in related sectors such as tourism, commerce, logistics and transportation. And investments will be made in the expansion of runways, construction of more modern terminals and improvements in the airport’s security systems and operational capacity.

On the other hand, Barrera points out that there will be an increase in the number of routes and flights available, facilitating access to international markets and improving the global connectivity of the region. He finally mentions that better connectivity and logistical facilities will attract foreign investments and new business opportunities in various sectors.
